Nigerian Man Shoots Wife To Death As Thief.
A man from Umuida, Enugu-Ezike in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, Mr. Mathias Nweze, on Saturday shot his wife to death thinking she was a thief.
Nweze, who is popularly called “Honourable”, was gathered to have said that he was sleeping in his house in the night when his generating set went off abruptly.
It was gathered that Nweze immediately woke up, and suspecting that thieves might have sneaked into the house, brought out his pump action gun and aimed at the direction of the generating set.
He was said to have fired several shots to scare the suspected thieves. It was further gathered that Nweze realized his mistake when his wife screamed that she had been hit.
The woman was rushed to the New Testament Hospital, Ogrute in Igboeze North Council headquarters, where doctors confirmed her dead.
Police in the state said yesterday that they have already commenced investigation into the mater. Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, said the corpse of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.Source:Nigerianeye
